Confessions of a Shopaholic – Sophie Kinsella

Challenges – Ultimate Teen Book Guide Challenge

Synopsis – Retail therapy is the answer to all her problems. She knows she should stop, but she can’t. She tries Cutting Back, she tries Making More Money. But neither seems to work. The stories she concocts become more and more fantastic as she tries to untangle her increasingly dire financial difficulties. Her only comfort is to buy herself something – just a little something…

Can Becky ever escape from this dream world, find true love, and regain the use of her Switch card?

My Thoughts – I have had this on my shelf for a while, and have had it recommended for me quite a few times. I really really love this book, and i wish i had read it sooner.

The book centres on Becky, who is a shopaholic bigtime. I found myself relating to becky a little bit, not so much with her huge spending, but with how easy it is to spend a little here and there and let it get into a big problem. Her plans to make more money or cut back were so so so funny and brilliant too. i loved her excuses for not paying the money too, the letters really broke the book up a bit and made it a bit different. Also, the ending was so good!

I felt the plot was very good and so funny. The book was just the right length too, as i find sometimes this type of book can go on a little to much.

Anyway, the best part of the book, is that is part of a series. I already own Shopaholic Abroad and Shopaholic and Baby i just need to get my hands on the others and ill be away to read the whole series. I’m so pleased to have found another series that im going to enjoy.

a brilliant read, if you havent already give it a go, beacuase i thought it was fabulous.

Rating – 5/5
