What’s more important to you? Real, three-dimensional, fleshed-out fascinating characters? Or an amazing, page-turning plot?
(Yes, I know, they are both important. But if you had to pick one as being more important than the other?)
Although i think both are important, and a good book should have both, i would say the most important would be the plot.
For me, i can put up with a book with rubbish characters, if the plot is fascinating and keeps me hooked. On the other hand if the plot is rubbish i find it difficult to keep reading a book even if the characters are really good.
I have had this situation happen to me in several of the books i have read this year and a rubbish plot has totally ruined the plot for me, and to be honest, i dont take much notice of the characters if im not enjoying the book.
