Its Monday! What are you Reading? (9th Jan)

9 Jan

Its Monday! What are you Reading? is a weekly meme held over on Book Journey. I love taking part in this meme and reading what others are reading over the next week.

Over the weekend i have made a big discison. I have decided to get back into the love of reading. Last year, especially the latter part of the year i was reading books, just to hit reading targets of 6 or 7 books a month. And, to be honest, it was starting to feel like a bit of a chore.

So, I’m going to continue with my challenges and blogging etc, but i will change my reading habits. So what if it takes me two weeks or two days to read a book. It doesnt matter. What matters is me reading, and loving the fact that i am.

Books Read

I finished one book this week, my first ‘tree book’ of the year. This was The Further Adventures of a London Call Girl by Belle De Jour. I read the first book in the series a few years ago and have now read the second. The best way i can discribe this book is an x-rated Bridget Jones. It is a very good book, however if you are easily shocked, or dont like books of a sexual nature, then do not read this book. However, if this is your cup of tea, then give it a read, i loved it!

Reading Now

I’m currently reading Its A Kind of Magic by Carol Matthews. She is one of my favourite authors and i love her books. Although I’m not too far into it at the minute, i can tell that this book is going to be good.!

As per last week, I’m reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle on my Kindle. I am enjoying this so much more than i thought i would.

Reading Next.

Next up is Caught in the Act by Gemma Fox. I havent heard of the book or the authour before, but it sounds quite good.

Carol French is lured by the promise of a get-together through, and it’s better than just old school friends – it’s the old sixth-form drama group that twenty years ago took ‘Macbeth’ on tour. A tour that was dramatic in more ways than one, and Carol has carried a torch for the leading actor ever since. Not that it has stopped her marrying, having kids, divorcing – but that memory just won’t go away. Now she is about to be brought face to face with the adolescent love god himself, except now he’s nearly forty…

Old loves, lusts and rivalries are waiting in the wings in this marvellously warm tale from top talent Gemma Fox.

Books Brought

I received one book in the post last week and that was Flyaway by Lucy Christopher. This book was off the top of my wishlist.

While visiting her father in hospital, thirteen-year-old Isla meets Harry, the first boy to understand her and her love of the outdoors. But Harry is ill, and as his health fails, Isla is determined to help him in the only way she knows how. Together they watch a lone swan struggling to fly on the lake outside Harry’s window. Isla believes that if she can help the damaged swan, somehow she can help Harry. And in doing so, she embarks upon a breathtakingly magical journey of her own

I also dowloaded the following books for my Kindle because they were free at the time.

I Want it Now! A Memoir of Life on the Set of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

One O’clock Jump: a swing town mystery for the young at heart (Dorie Lennox Mystery Series)

It is easy to get caught up in challenges and memes and lose track of the one thing that got us started…reading for the love of it. I’ve done it too! It’s too great a love to lose the passion for. I’m glad you changed your focus before it got too tiresome and you lost your enthusiasm. Good on ya!
