Its Monday! What are you Reading? (16th Jan)

16 Jan

Its Monday! what are you Reading? is a weekly bookish meme held over on book journey. I really enjoy taking part in this meme, both to share what I’m reading and to read what others are reading.

Books Read

I finished one book last week and this was Its a Kind of Magic by Carole Matthews. This book was chick lit, but with a whole load of fantasy thrown in too. I really enjoyed this book, and i think the fantasy aspect made the book stand out a bit more from the rest. Carole Matthews is fast becoming one of my favourite chick lit authors, and this is my favourite book of hers, so far.

Reading Now

I am currently reading Caught in the Act by Gemma Fox. I’m not really that far into it, only 5 or 6 pages in fact, so i’m not going to make any comments yet, but it does have potential to be a good book.

In kindle form, I’m still reading The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. I’m so glad that there are more books by this author to enjoy once i have finished this one.

Reading Next

Next up off my huge TBR pile is Things I want my Daughters to Know by Elizabeth Noble. This is a book that i have been wanting to read for a while so I’m glad to get around to it.

How do you cope in a world without your mother?

When Barbara realizes time is running out, she writes letters to her four daughters, aware they’ll be facing the trials and triumphs of life without her at their side. But how can she leave them when they still have so much growing up to do?

Take Lisa, in her mid-thirties but incapable of making a commitment; or Jennifer, trapped in a stale marriage and buttoned up so tight she could burst. While twentysomething Amanda is the traveler, always distanced from the rest of the family. And Hannah. A teenage girl on the verge of womanhood, about to be parted from the mother she adores.

But by drawing on the wisdom in Barbara’s letters, the girls might just find a way to cope with her loss. And in coming to terms with their bereavement, can they also set themselves free to enjoy life with all the passion and love each deserves?

Books Brought

I’ve not brought any this week, but i have downloaded a few Kindle freebies.

  • Nothing but the Truth, A Policemans Tale – John Bates
  • Confessions of a Stay at Home Mom – Tamara Hancock
  • The Falcon Dirk – Clark G. Vanderpool
  • The Briton and the Dane – Birthright – Mary Anne Bernal
