Its Monday What are you Reading?

17 Jan

Its Monday What are you Reading? is a weekly meme held over on Book Journey.

Last week i finished two books, 31 Dream Street – Lisa Jewell and More to Life Than This – Jill Mansell. Both were enjoyable and i reveiwed both.

I have been looking at reading challenges again but thankfully i haven’t signed up to anymore, i think ive got more than enough to be getting on with!

I am currently reading Isobels Wedding – Shelia O’Flannagan and I really got into this last night.  I was up until halfpast one in the morning because i got so hooked! I’m not sure if i will finish this this week because it is quite a long book, but if i do i’ll probably start Four Play by Fiona Walker.

I have also started my first ever ebook on my ipod touch. I’m reading The Secret Garden, something i read many years ago but im finding it difficult to read this time. I think its because im not used to reading ebooks. I think paper books will still be the way forward for me for a long time!

31 Dream Street – Lisa Jewell

Synopsis – In a rambling house, failed poet Toby Dobbs has created a refuge for people who need one. But when a quiet tragedy and an unwelcome letter interrupt Toby’s sedate existence, he needs his housemates to find some direction in their lives. Leah Pilgrim has watched the tenants of the house over the road for several years, and when the owner of 31 Silversmith Road asks her for advice, he opens the door not only to the eccentric building across the street – but to five lives in various stages of turmoil. Can Toby and Leah help these misfits to grow up, move on and move out? And in doing so, can they make their own dreams come true?

My Thoughts – To start with i found this book very confusing due to the fact about ten characters were introduced within about two pages. Because of this i thought that one character was the ex wife until halfway through the book! The story itself was quite nice, but i really thought the ending was rubbish! At the moment i cannot stand ‘and they all lived happilly ever after’ It would have been ok if it was just one couple, but it was several. Having said that some parts of the story was captivating, but i just thought it was all a bit too nice! It is a nice book if you dont want anything to challenging or just want to relax, but not something i would read again.

Rating – 2.5/5

This is a meme held on Should Be Reading. I loved taking part in this last week so im going to do it every week! To play along answer the following Questions.

What are you currently reading?

Handle With Care – Jodi Picoult. This is my second Picoult book and im really enjoying it. It runs along the same vein as My sisters keeper. Once i pick it up i cant put it down. I’m not all that far into it at the moment but im hoping to get a good chunk of it read today and tomorrow.

What did you recently finish reading?

More to Life Than This – Carole Matthews. This was my first book that i completed in 2011. It was a lovely little chick lit book, nothing to challenging, a perfect read for over the festive period when you dont want to be too mentally challenged. I enjoyed the story too and thought it flowed really well. I have several Carole matthews books on my TBR pile and hope i enjoy them like i did this book.

What do you think you will read next?

31 Dream Street – Lisa Jewell. I got this book last year as part of a bundle. Ive not really heard much about this book but i think i will give it a go because you never know unless you try.
