A while ago, I interviewed my readers for a change, and my final question was, “What question have I NOT asked at BTT that you’d love me to ask?” I got some great responses and will be picking out some of the questions from time to time to ask the rest of you. Like now.

Which non-series book would you most like to read the sequel to? Do you have any wishes for what might happen in it?
Thinking about this question, i actually think that this is quite hard. I read a lot of different books and sometimes forget the good books! Also I read a LOT of series books too, they are probably one of the biggest things i read.
So after a lot of thinking I am going to pick the book that i finished last night. I was up until about 2am finishing this book, something that doesn’t normally happen for me. This book was Emotional Geology by Linda Gillard. This book is beautiful, poetic, sometimes haunting, but an absolutely beautiful book.
I wanted this story to go on and on, and was so disappointed that i had finished the book. Now whether a sequel would work or not i dont know, but i just wanted the story to go on and on.

I haven’t heard of this book before, but it sounds interesting. I like the title a lot.

I don’t suppose there’s any higher compliment a reader can pay an author than “I just wanted the story to go on and on”. You are not alone. Over the years (it was published in 2005) readers have told me that they read the book slowly, savouring it to make it last. (And some have gobbled it in one sitting!)
I have some idea how you feel because I was so grief-stricken (I think that’s the word) as I approached the end of writing EG that I had to start writing a new, completely different book, even before I’d finished writing EG, in order to cope with my sense of “bereavement”. The next novel helped, but I still missed the characters of EG terribly (especially Calum with whom I was definitely in love!)
I don’t think there will ever be a sequel to EMOTIONAL GEOLOGY (although readers have requested it) but if you want to read something similar, my 3rd novel STAR GAZING is perhaps the closest, or possibly my most recent, UNTYING THE KNOT. They’re both very romantic (SG was shortlisted for Romantic Novel of the Year) and both have the same mixture of comedy and tragedy that characterises EMOTIONAL GEOLOGY.

When I want a story to go on, it’s usually the characters and the settings that have grabbed hold of me. So that’s what I looked for in my choice, here at MY THURSDAY MEMES POST

I haven’t read that one. But, in general I think there’s enough sequels around.
sometimes there are too many sequals and books are taken too far!
A book that I’ve read that I’ve wanted to go on and on each time I reread is the The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. It is my favorite young adult book ever. However, sometimes I’m appeased by going onto fanfiction.net and reading Outsiders fanfiction 🙂
i need to read that book, its on my wishlist 🙂
